INDIAN CANYONS

Iconic Krisel Home

Built in 1968 by acclaimed architect William Krisel for developer Robert Grundt, the home had been occupied by the same family since 1974. It is one of the finest examples of international style as evidenced by the floating rooflines, open interiors, expanses of glass, atriums and strong vertical and horizontal lines. In the design of this home, Krisel demonstrates “an evolved architectural language of Modernism.” It has been characterized as expressing an elevated “elegance, refinement and sophistication” more so than in previous designs.

The spacious interiors (3,654 sf) feature an impressive great room surrounded by clerestory windows that provide abundant natural light and capture the panoramic mountains views. The interior is set off by the original marble fireplace with brass insets and custom built in clandestine walnut bar. The home features 4 bedrooms and 4 baths in the main house and a 1 bedroom, 1 bath pool house/casita (all en-suite).

The home sits on the 12th fairway of the beautiful Indian Canyons North Golf course. The exterior, with its classic kidney shaped pool including a tanning shelf and attached spa; outdoor BBQ; and fire feature boast some of the most magnificent mountain views and provide a constant reminder of what makes Palm Springs so special.

Krisel has been known to say that “modernism is not a style. It is a language and a philosophy that creates a better way of living through design.” This house is a living testimony to that ethos.
